Visit to 10,000 Buddhas

I went on a bit of an outing last month to see the 10,000 Buddhas. I am including a couple of pictures of the visit. This is a place here in Hong Kong and is a popular tourist stop. It is a bit of a hike up to the place where the walls of small buddhas are, but everything is, so that was no surprise.

Kyra's Hockey Team

Kyra continues to play hockey here in Hong Kong. She has been such a trooper despite the "not so convenient" schedule. Her and Craig are usually picked up by her friend & her dad on Sunday mornings, most often around 5:45am to get to hockey on time. She loves the games, but could do without the practices! Surprise, Surprise...

Keely Celebrates Chinese New Year in Preschool

At the close of her second week of preschool, Keely had a celebration to recognize the upcoming Lunar New Year. They could dress in traditional Chinese dress and were to bring traditional Chinese savory snacks. She loved the excuse just to put on another dress. She is the Mandarin Speaking class so she spends half her time in English and the half in Mandarin.

Tyson's Baseball

Tyson's baseball season has now come to a close. It was a good season and Tyson had a lot of fun. He continues to grow so fast that he is nearly a head taller than anyone else in his grade...which makes him quite the powerful hitter. This may mean playing with older kids next year as most of his batting resulted in home runs. Great for his ego, but perhaps also a sign that he should move up a group!

Disneyland Hong Kong

It is a bit funny to think that we promoted to the kids that there was a Disneyland in Hong Kong when we were trying to get them excited about moving here and yet we finally got there for the first time this past week. We are lucky enough to live relatively close to an "amusement park" called Ocean Park that the kids really like. It is only about a 15 minute (or less, depending on which bus you choose) bus ride to get there. Getting to Disneyland is a bit more of a time investment. It involves taking a bus and two train rides and took around an hour to get there.

Similar to back home, we maximized the use of the "fast passes" which helped, but Disneyland Hong Kong is nowhere near what Disneyland California is so the lines weren't necessarily that bad to begin with. We had a fun day at the park, but at the end of the day I think the kids would unanimously agree "been there, done that" on Disneyland. After experiencing Disneyland California a couple years ago, they weren't necessarily all that excited to go to begin with for fear of the endless lines...so thankfully that wasn't an issue for us.

Kyra, Trey, Craig and I went on Space Mountain, which was enjoyed by all of us! The entire family went on a Buzz Lightyear ride a couple times, which we all liked...brought out the competitive nature in all of the Sandness family as you try and shoot targets throughout the ride to get points. Trey was the big winner amongst us, not for lack of my trying to beat him though. We also did the Jungle Cruise as a family and a few other things before calling it a day. It was a great day of family togetherness and fun was had by all!

Thought I'd share a couple photos from our day...
